The Lion and the Wolf (As Sung by a Burr)
This bro-ish furson known as
wolfclaw linked me the original of this song a while back. Decidely creepy, we both decided this would be the perfect lullaby for making your kid turn into a serial killer. Interestingly, he said he would use it as the lullaby for his children if he has them one day.
COINCIDENCE?
Either way, it was obvious I had to muck it up by putting my own voice to this XO3

Except for being in a capella choir and such in high school, I never got any formal musical training. I learned how to read music (but only in C) and such there. But what little I can do with a keyboard I had to teach myself. It shows XO3
You seem to have quite good taste in classical music, by the way

I love a capella. Have you ever perfomed Rachmaninoff's Vespers? It's an amazing piece. I've never had any formal training either, sadly. I had planned to attend Juilliard after high school, but that obviously wasn't to be when we moved out to the country. I was invited to tour Europe the summer of 1985 with an honors band comprised of top high school musicians from around the USA, but the first stop was in Athens and my mom was concerned for my safety because of problems they were having in the airport there at the time. So, once again, I managed to avoid any real exposure to large audiences.
Anyway, I really enjoyed what you did with this piece and you should be proud of it.

No, I have not, but taking a brief listen to a couple portions, it does sound amazing. And it sounds like you had to miss out on some awesome opportunities, but being able to perform with the groups you did must have been an incredible experience. I only wish I could still do something like that.
It has been a long while, but the most challenging/interesting piece I remember us performing was "Domine, Ad Adjuvandum Me Festina" by G. B. Martini. It's not really a capella, and seems to be a rather obscure piece, but I still love it.

Ethan,
Yes, I have a lot of really great memories performing with some outstanding groups. But, I'm hopefully not done yet! I have an audition this Friday to try to get back into the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. And, I'm 42, which means YOU have plenty of time as well to get back into singing! Don't let anything stop you if it's something you really want to do. It has been 16 years since I've done anything professionally, but
rhubarbcub kicked me in the butt and encouraged me to get back into music is some form. So, now I'm going to do it to you! You have talent - don't let it sit idle. If you really enjoy performing, go out and do it!
I really love Martini's work. Very underappreciated, I think. A very nice recording of the piece, so thank you for the link!
Take care buddy,
~Maximus

Oh, good luck on your upcoming audition! As for me, I really need to get my feet under myself financially before I think about anything like that. For now, I'm happy just to play around and maybe collaborate with a person here or there. Maybe when my life is something close to stable I can go after big dreams beyond being able to hold down a place to live.
Thank you for the encouragement and compliments, Maximus. It really means a lot *burrhugs*

I have no idea what I am anymore. My guess would be maybe 2nd tenor, but really I'd need someone else to tell me. I just went along with what the choir director said XO3
And don't worry, as soon as I get over this cold, I'm going to be working on something with another musician on here :O3
