Description:
Rita was the New Yorker Saluki residing in a quality apartment in the heavily traffic city. Once a member of a street dog gang doing petty crimes, now a well-educated and well-off psychologist. Even after having dropped flags a dozen years ago, she remained in contact with her friends (who had their gang disbanded few years after her departure), including their former panther boss Fagin. With her friends still struggling to fit it in a civil (and uncriminal) manner however, Rita was more than happy to lend them a hand in dealing with their own issues in order to become their better selves, should a task be overcoming insecurities, rebuilding ties with pre-gang friends and families, strengthening relationships with new friends or partners, keeping themselves still in spite of distraction or prejudice, etc., all for free as long as their problems became minimal or embraced with positivity.
Few months after helping her old friends get better, she decided to settle down for a break before deciding to deal with her own past as well. One day, she crossed paths with a white Shiba Inu named Jake Shibaluki, whose courteous treatment touched her, both emotionally and heartfully, but it also left her hesitant. It turned out (unbeknownst to Jake) that the Saluki had many former crushes in her past life, leaving them robbed out of money and certain valuables, but while most of them felt betrayed and wanted nothing to do with her, there was one who took it very seriously and obsessively.
One was Roscoe Sykes, one of two adopted Doberman sons (besides DeSoto) of the late mafioso William Sykes. While Rita's gang of misfits was simply committing harmless crimes out of survival, they were also under debt by the hands of the Skyes family. Despite such an initimidating environment between both parties, Roscoe was the only Sykes attempting to befriend the lowly dogs, who unhappily turned him down, but Rita decided to take advantage of him financially. Things went well for Rita's gang, mostly her, until the day both Fagin and William passed away out of different conditions. It turned out the other Sykes (including DeSoto) had seen out of use from the lowly dogs and so wanted to leave them dead to avoid any future complications. It only pushed them further when Rita was caught stealing loads of money from them, triggering even the wrath of Roscoe, sending a couple of mafiosos after them. However, the youngest cat of Rita's gang had already alerted the police ever since the announcement of William Sykes' death, allowing the said gang to get away unscathed and unnoticed, while the most of the Sykes were handed in handcuffs. Leaving DeSoto arrested as well was the last straw for Roscoe, but desparate to escape the police, quickly flew back to Sicily, swearing ruthless revenge on Rita and her friends in the future.
Unfortunately for Rita, Roscoe returned to New York, alongside his gunners from Sicily, just few weeks after she met Jake. Numerous gunfights were to be expected, but Jake proved to be a dangerous fighter, driving gunmen away with his effective fire attacks. Roscoe was once again forced to leave New York to avoid another persecution. Despite serious injuries inflicted, Rita and her friends so grateful for Jake, that they allowed him to hang with them. This also helped Rita overcome her uncertainty about maintaining love without taking it for granted.
Few months later, although she was happy to become Jake's girlfriend and to have him stay with her, she took notice of his anxiety surfacing to her eyes and so started looking into finding a solution to treat it completely. However, they both stumbled upon the commercial promoting the MALAKAS Project, in which Jake was curious to join. Despite expressing skepticism, the Saluki relented and let him go for few months. Upon the Shiba Inu's imminent arrival, she and her friends began preparing a surprise party for him, not knowing that Jake would eventually return, but as a Super Soldier, which surprised everyone present, but excited them nonetheless.
However after New Year's Eve, serious fighting occurred, but this time was the war between two native tribes now taking place in New York City, apparently due to either of the said tribes receiving direct support from the mafia. Not liking where this was going, Jake wanted to stop the mafia so as to make those tribes cease the fighting in the city, but Rita begged him to reconsider, pointing out the possible collateral damage unto unwilling citizens within. However, the MALAKAS Project's supervisor Christopher North was forced to go to New York and deal with this matter as a dozen members of one tribe (including Ryan McNeil) happened to have joined the said project as well. While wanting to avoid further scandals unto the project, Chris was already desparate enough for several more potential recruits. Rita and her old friends, persuaded by Jake, decided to join in the fight to end the war of natives.
Rita, in particular, first relied on stealth and theft to take away enemy weapons (ranging from spears to tommy guns), but Jake surprised her with the muscle growth serum provided by Chris, turning her into a Soldier, so as to help her carry things heavier than even an RPG, but few days later was she tasked to monitor military convoys hauling money from almost every bank across New York. One day, one convoy was ambushed by the mafia and Rita was shocked to see Roscoe back in action, but unlike last time he was calmer. While complaining about being kicked out by his Sicilian counterparts for two serious failures, the Doberman lamented over how love between him and her went south over money, which surprised her and took her time to admit it and explain his late boss's demands becoming increasingly unfair for her former gang. Roscoe acknowledged such a situation, and instead asked for forgiveness and reconciliation, but Rita coldly refused, recalling his past angry reactions to her actions, in which he nodded tearfully. Roscoe raised up his tommy without a word, hoping to put the Saluki out of misery he believed he partially caused, but Rita quickly threw a gold ingot at his head, giving him the very treatment instead. Noticing Roscoe's tears and realizing he wasn't alone, Rita reluctantly gave herself a more concentrated serum (provided by Jake), turning into a Super Soldier, just in time to face the more viscious doberman DeSoto. The long fight ensued between the stern Rita and the now vengeful DeSoto around several districts, lasting for few hours, until the Doberman was squashed by the large sign felled from the Two Times Square building.
Rita came out victorious, but even after off-ing the Doberman twins, the Sykes mafia were still the threat, directly aiding the tribe against another. She rejoined Jake and her old friends, as they headed off to face the last of the Sykes holed up in the city docks.
