the legend of the Xubanghwa is echoed throughout backwater rural areas in the less civilized parts of China
The story tells of a Blind old crone, tormented nightly by visions of what she described as god older than the land itself.she was infamous for her disturbing tales, and reviled as a witch for her utterances in alien tongues that she claimed to be the songs sung by the monsters in her dreams.she was eventually beaten half to death only to freeze the rest of the way that night in the bamboo forests outside of the village.As she cursed the farmers with her dying breath, she became a terrible ghoul who preys upon the locals even to this day
In appearance the Xubanghwa is a wrinkled old woman wrapped in a red poncho. her kin is leathery and blue from the cold, and her face is twisted into that of a terrible leering ogre.Her eyes are but sunken holes, which no light ever enters.her white hair flows wildy in the winds that carry her through the air.The most note worthy feature of this beast however is it's long black tounge, covered in the stolen eyes of it's victims.
It is said that the Xubanghwa aattcks on windy nights.swooping down on unwary tavelers, and plucking out one of their eyes with its tongue adding to it's length with every eye stolen.the victims are plagued nightly with visions
most of whom are too hysterical to describe.on the fifth night, the victim dies in bed, screaming from fear.
