Okay, with this one, I'm going to teach you a word that I only recently learned, but am Extremely familiar with the meaning of. Rumination. That is exactly what Alex is doing here. Most of the time Rumination is a healthy way to look at a problem and figuring out a solution for said problem. However, just like all good things, too much is too much. (mind you, Alex escapes from Ruminating further than what you see here).
The darker aspect of Rumination is the inability to move on FROM said problem, thus you get stuck in this looping thought process that keeps spiraling faster and faster until you simply cannot take your own thoughts anymore. Now many people who suffer from OCD or even psychological Trauma have their own forms of Rumination, which may result in (for an OCD person) washing their hands over and over until they start to bleed from their cracked skin. For people such as myself (by extension Alex), it can lead to what you see here. Talking for the person who's traumatized you or made you upset. Your brain simply cannot tell the difference between the event happening in the past versus it occurring at that moment in time. So a single bad moment very quickly turns into a hundred.
People who are going through it, need help. Don't outright dismiss what they're going through, but help them break the cycle. Help them to recognize when they're starting down that bad road and redirect them to a healthier one.
This is all a very long winded way to say.... Alex got issues. In Alex's case, it's the pressures of high expectations, even when it comes to getting something that he genuinely wants for himself.
Changing the subject. How did I do with the water works here? I realize it might be drying a bit faster than is realistically possible, but I tried.

I've been dealing with these loops for years. At first I thought it was fine, but then the hitting started. I've been getting better, but it's still an uphill battle. Kind of have had a relapse at least once a week. In Alex's case, that certainly sounds very close to what he's going through. However, in this case Alex knows his parents are right. Sometimes the issue isn't so much who's right or wrong, but (even accidentally) ignoring the actual issue and struggle that the person is going through.
For example: My main issue, involves "listening". Not just hearing me say words, but actually listening to what I have to say. It's kind of hard to explain. One thing that triggers my loop is the thought of how I said something, but they either ignored it outright or simply misunderstood (most of the time by jumping to a conclusion of what they think that I was going to say... usually wrong. But they'll give me their response anyway.). Need to stop talking about it now or else. Loop.
Here's a clue: What exactly do you think Alex is struggling to say?
Water: Yeah, I certainly laid it on a bit thick in the second panel.... or was it the first...?

I can’t say it’s as bad for me, but I still get stuck dwelling on things quite a bit in a way that definitely isn’t productive.
As to not listening, that sounds like a lot of Wikipedia talk pages.
I’m a bit confused now with Alex. I know what he’s struggling to say, though.

It doesn't have to be as bad mine. So long as you recognize it, that's the first step.
Wikipedia talk pages? I've never heard of those, but I'm guessing it's like one of those times where you're trying to talk to someone (via text), but it becomes rather obvious that they're (at best) skimming your comments, but not reading them... Personally, I compare what I'm going through like trying to talk one of those AI chatbots. The lights are on, but no one home.
Alex is still Asexual. But like most Ases, that doesn't mean he doesn't want companionship or is unable to fall in love for other reasons. What he really lacks (for lack of a better word) is "the practice". He has literally never done any of it before. Think of him as a "Komi-san" who can at least talk like a normal person.

For Wikipedia, the talk pages are for working out what should or shouldn’t be in an article. We do get the arguments that stem from misreading comments and such, but there certainly are “brick wall” cases. They even have a page dedicated to some of the dumber arguments. I’ve actually added an entry for one of them.
I’ll have to watch the video later. But yeah, being asexual is not a black and white thing.

1) oh... You poor foxy....
2) Well, I like to think that it's simple, but due to the fact that it's actually so "weird" that most people just can't grasp the concept as being legit-legit. Just like how we discussed before about how some people think that "Asexual" is the same thing as being "Dimi". Or other cases like... Can't tell you how many times someone would ask "so you're (fetish)filia" or have outright stated, "oh, it's just because you're ugly"... That sort of deal. Even my own mother asked me once "so, like you think you're an earthworm, or something?"

Actually no... Such comments came after its creation.
I just wanted to point out Shabti's bluntness...
As well as the fact that virgin sacrifices tend to be the ladies(or men) that nobody else wanted.
Shabti doesn't realize yet that the actual "sacrifice" was the artifact.
I did want the coyotes to be "scruffier" than most of their canine counterparts though.

Interesting since the stereotype that comes to mind with a “virgin sacrifice” is an attractive young woman. Though partly it adds more drama to a story.
Of course with Mauna Loa (though the eruption is mostly waning) going off, there are inevitably jokes about throwing a virgin in.
On coyotes being scruffy, a furry world could have a hodgepodge of species-based standards of attractiveness. I think a couple Kevin & Kell strips brought up that idea with bird plumage and such.

That's the idea. As you well know, Shabti is incapable of forming his own opinions. He's just judging based on the standards that the previous sacrifices that the gods received.
... Guess where I'm not going on vacation anytime soon...
Oh yeah, totally. There is an actual narrative reason why Mr. Tucker Haynes and Trace are so... "unattractive" while Trace's mom (Mily) is freaking gorgeous.... or at least as beautiful as my ability to draw can allow. Especially Mr Haynes. They all do. Of course, it may remain unexplained forever at this point.

I figured something like that for Shabti.
Yeah, you might come a trash panda and leave a red panda. Though I’m a bit curious why the “throw a virgin into the lava lake” trope is so prevalent since it seems an unlikely practice (given the rarity of lava lakes).
Many scruffy is attractive for coyotes.

I think something similar when it came to "princess saved by knight from the dragon" trope... There is literally only ONE fairytale I know of that actually does that. (and no, it's not Shrek.... Ironically.) Mind you there are still damsels in distress trope, but there were also loads of princes and kings in distress too. Perhaps the prevalence of the "Virgin sacrifice to stop the vulcano" trope has more to do with Hollywood popularizing it than the fact that it was a common practice.
Something similar happened when it came to "scalping". Believe it or not, out of the 300+ Native American Tribes only a handful (seriously like maybe 5 tribes) actually practiced the art. It just became associated with all Indians most likely because of what happened to a certain general named after a yellow food. Can't remember the name. On the tip of my tongue....
Anyway, his unique death probably spread throughout the states, the trope stuck and Hollywood later popularized it.

St. George, right?
As to volcanoes, I looked around some. There is mention of the sacrifice of maidens and children at the lava lake of Masaya in Nicaragua, believing that some manner of witch lived in the volcano. So I guess there is the kernel of truth.
Spanish explorers apparently believed it either to be the mouth of Hell, or a lake of molten gold or silver.

At least Andromeda didn't have it as bad as Prometheus... although that's debatable depending on who you ask...

Dear Lord! This is the worst case of bird flu I've ever seen!
Brightside, you can drink all you want cause your liver won't have time to fail.
