And here's a bit of story that leads up to this image:
Aurora and Snowflake had been close friends for a few years, and slowly over time they both started developing feelings for each other. However, neither of them really understood and properly acknowledged those feelings. But, this didn't bother them, for they were already pretty happy with their close friendship.
Eventually, though, their underlying feelings for each other would reveal themselves. Following a series of events, Aurora decided to go on a journey to try and find a human from her early childhood, with Snow coming along with to help. Along the way, they met up with Aurora's adoptive mother, and Aurora introduced Snow to her mother as a friend. And, upon hearing this, Snow suddenly took issue with just being called a friend. She didn't say anything about it, as she didn't blame Aurora for describing their relationship that way for she herself would've said the same thing, but it led to her thinking about her relationship with Aurora and if she really thought of Aurora as a friend, or perhaps as something more.
Snow wouldn't be able to sleep that night, so she decided to take a walk outside and more properly gather her thoughts about her relationship with Aurora. She had never been in a real romantic relationship before. Any time she attempted to start a relationship in the past, she always felt apathetic. She never felt any feelings of love or attraction towards her partners, and so none of those relationships lasted long. Eventually she had decided that romance just wasn't for her, but now that seemed to be changing. Snow had only ever attempted to start relationships with male dragons, but now she was starting to realize that perhaps she was simply just looking the wrong way. She had never seen or heard of any sort of homosexual relationship before, the time period she lived in wouldn't permit much visibility towards those relationships, but maybe it could work out with Aurora. Though, given how Snow had only ever seen heterosexual relationships, she had doubts that Aurora would be "different" like her.
Aurora soon woke up and noticed Snow's absence. Wondering where she was, she got up and went to find her. It didn't take long to find Snow sitting next to a small fire she had started. Upon approaching Snow, she'd ask her what she was doing outside at night, and Snow would finally unleash all of her feelings and emotions, revealing the love she had realized she felt towards Aurora. Snow had doubts that Aurora would reciprocate, but unknowingly she had described almost exactly Aurora's own feelings towards her. Aurora had always dismissed her feelings towards Snow, being confused on what they meant. Unlike Snow, Aurora only attempted a romantic relationship once before, and she had loved her male partner at the time. But, after that relationship ended, she was rather isolated from other dragons up until she met Snow. Once she started having feelings for Snow, she had become confused as she had also never heard of homosexual relationships, and so had concluded that if she had the same feelings towards her prior male partner as she did with Snow, then perhaps those feelings weren't truly love and were instead just something else. But now, with Snow almost perfectly describing her own feelings as love, Aurora finally realized that she did in fact love Snow.
Ultimately, Snow ended off by telling Aurora, "I love you"
A short silence followed as Aurora processed what she had heard, a silence that felt like an eternity to Snow. Doubts began to form in Snow's mind, she worried about what Aurora would say, if Aurora would even feel the same way. If Aurora didn't feel the same, then she hoped they could at least still be friends. Hopefully it wouldn't make things awkward between them. But, eventually her worries would be interrupted as Aurora finally replied.
