Where buzzards dare may actually be a larger area than where eagles dare, as buzzards are the most common British bird of prey, with about 66,000 breeding pairs across the UK. They belong in the same family as kites, hawks, and eagles, and stand at about half a metre tall, though only weighing about a kilogram on average. They can often be seen hovering and gliding through the skies over rural areas, though tending to stick nearer roads. You see, one of their primary sources of food is carrion, which more often than not comes from roadkill. This can be a problem for drivers, who often have to worry about these guys gorging themselves in the middle of the road.
