Over the last couple of years, I've found myself writing more than my share of pieces that are more or less grumps about finding myself well-past the proverbial halfway point of the average lifespan of a western male of my particular generation, and often feeling like I've little or nothing to show for it. Most of these pieces tend to wind up languishing, unused for certain lengths of time, just because I tend to be wary of sharing too many pieces on a similar theme, especially if they're grumpy and doom-and-gloom, and tend to moan and complain about things that many folks would not be shy to tell me that I have no right, whatsoever, to complain about.
After all, there's always someone out there, who has it far worse than you...
Other times, I find I can take a somewhat wider view of things, and view such writing as a textual form of Primal Scream Therapy, and perhaps other people out there, who might be in similar places and head-spaces might get something out of this.
Most of the references in this piece are fairly obvious, save for: "A Tiger Stays Silent", which comes from a WWII-era Swedish propaganda poster, "En Svensk Tiger", which had a double meaning of either: "A Swedish Tiger" or "A Swede Stays Silent", which was roughly equivalent to some of the sayings used in the English-Speaking world, such as: "Loose Lips Sink Ships".

Your writing always does strike chords for me. This one seems like quite an indictment of time itself. Not that it suffers any consequences of course, we bare the brunt of that. No, but I do become more and more disillusioned with it the further time goes on, and the more I realize that there is very little that we each have as individuals to control what’s going on. To affect our dreams as individuals, or toward society at large.
I never know quite how to respond to poetry because I end up just reiterating what was said in a worse way. :p In any case I have always appreciated your perspective, angst and all.
