I could almost suspend belief in the Meiji setting for Toho Cinema's 1968 classic, "Zatoichi to Mechazatoichi."
And then they had the villagers sing a song to summon a "Yojimbo," pretty obviously supposed to be Mifune Toshiro's character from the Kurosawa films, and that just was too unbelievable to accept.
