I just realized tonight when watching a play through of the level 'Bootown' from 'Ape Escape 3' that it's sort of like exploring through a dream I had long ago. Minus all the mischievous monkeys.
In fact, said dream was the most realistic one I've ever had. It was also the most fascinating. I remember describing the whole thing to family members in perfect detail afterward and they seemed so amazed. Even thinking back on it now, I can remember so much.
Before the night I had that dream, many years had passed since I'd played 'Ape Escape 3.' I didn't even remember it at the time.
I was standing on a sidewalk at night in an old timey town with brick buildings and cobblestone streets. A vendor's cart was beside me and it had a striped top on it. It was being used to sell popcorn, but there were no customers and the owner of the cart wasn't around either. A carriage being pulled by a white horse passed by in front of me, but no one was riding inside. Aside from this carriage, the street remained empty.
All the sudden, I found myself on a pathway in one of the forests that is in my area that I've visited many times and it was still dark. This particular forest is one that my dad used to take me to. There is an old horse trail there that we walked on when I was small. For some reason, I used to call it the pumpkin head trail back then. The dream ended there in the forest.
The white horses on the old fashioned carousel, the vendor cart with the striped top, the cobblestone streets, the brick buildings, the loneliness, the Jack o lanterns along the pathway in the forest, not to mention the level taking place at night...I never thought till tonight that it's so similar. It's kind of crazy.
