I've never been a fan of the costume armor that is all about looking "sexy" and doesn't actually do what armor is supposed to do; protect the person wearing it. A female warrior is sexy, but I wouldn't be able to take one seriously if she was wearing bikini armor.

Myself, I like the look of sexy armor, but for actual fighting? Yeah, I'd rather see something that actually protected the wearer.

Yeah, if you're gonna wear a bikini into combat, just wear one! Adding armour to it will just add weight and deflect any sword attacks right into your neck or chest anyway.

Yeah, the standard for the 11th century would be chainmail plus a helmet and shield. Rossweisse has the advantage of the added cuirass plus her armor is of goddess quality and Aesir steel.

That is quite a lot of research. And alot of stuff to wear in battle. Makes me wonder how the hell a full armored knight would move around.

Knights pretty much had that weakness until the high powered crossbow, or until someone got smart and invented the stiletto, but both suffer from either supply, or range problems, as bolts are harder to make, or at least in good quality, while said knives tend to require stabbing into chinks, at very close range.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it generally shows why armored knights slowly slid out of mainstream killing, though in this case, I wonder how much actually applies to Valkyries

Rossweisse's armor is quite light and mobile compared to the full plate armor of a later knight. As Luissen mentioned, they were often so heavy they depended on horses for mobility. You have to compromise somewhere between protection and mobility.

Really? I've been told by several people (including a few with actual armor-wearing experience) that a properly-fitted suit of plate actually tires you less than mail, and it's very manueverable. To the point of being able to do gymnastics-style splits in one.

The weight of mail tends to go mostly on your shoulders and maybe your hips if it fits well. Well fitted plate armor would be more evenly dispersed. But until the 1500s anyway, plate was worn over chainmail as added protection, so you'd be wearing both. By the time the "classic" suit of full plate came into style, guns were common enough to already be putting an end to that stuff. Most SCA types don't wear very authentic armor (Some do, and do a really good job at making it look real), and the worst weapon they have to face is a rattan stick wrapped in duct tape.
But I'm not going to dispute what you say, it makes some sense.

I have heard about the same. Mail just sits on the shoulders and arms, unable to support itself, while suits of plate armor were designed to place the weight on the hips, and reduce the weight load on the upper body and arms.

While most people might think that a plate-armored knight, if knocked down, would be unable to get up, authors like Poul Anderson (The High Crusade) and Gordon R. Dickson (the Dragon Knight series) have disputed this, and show their knights to be pretty agile.

I love seeing how "furries" would wear armor when it's done right (like here). One of these days I have to find someone who can draw me a picture of a wolf in pre-Islamic style Iranian savaran armor.

It seems in this form of attire that having to go to the bathroom all of a sudden won't be as much as a hassle as it would in a full armor would have. And I dread thinking about the messes one would have to clean out of those suits when the wearer is killed.

so this has been bothering me, is what looks to be a visor on the helmet decorative? i can't figure out how it would be pulled down over the brim of the helmet.

The brim is part of the visor, it comes down to be the nose (or muzzle) guard.

i'd made the mistake of assuming the visor was connected to the helmet because of the coloration, which in retrospect was stupid of me. very well designed....
