Annette has always had issues making friends, her flat and monotone affectation is typically off-putting for most. Not only did this mean she spent most of her life alone but due to the nature of how her species evolves meant she was stuck as a munchlax far later into her life than most.
Enter Shayla, a Braxien dealing with a similar but different problem. Both being stuck not fully evolved became an instant bonding experience for the two, allowing Shayla to see past Annettes hard to read mannerisms but also giving Annette someone who can expand her view of the world in a way only a psychic type could. Both falling into the more gothy/occult style many outsiders do only helping matters.
But things change, and the friendship built between the two would eventually be the factor for Annette to evolve, that original commonality fading away and replaced by a new quirk that would continue to keep the two of them on the social fringe.
Being stuck in such a small form for so long and suddenly evolving not just into a notoriously hungry form but doing this as an adult gave Annette a pit in her stomach deeper than many of her kind have felt, something difficult to control at the best of times.
The first public incident happened about a week after her evolving and involved a Primarina that used to bully Annette back in their college days, recognising her style of dress the bully couldn’t help but tease the girl who had been barley containing her hunger the entire time, the stress of the encounter sending a particularly huge hunger pang through her system. Moments later without much thought her hunger was sated as the twitching tail of the bully slurped between her lips and was gone.
Thankfully there were no witnesses and it only took a handful of hours before the evidence of Annettes swollen stomach had diminished into a soft layer of fat across her body, unfortunately signalling the return of her hunger.
As of now Annette hopes that eventually her stomach will calm, explaining the situation to her best friend and housemate was tough enough without the rest of the town growing suspicious, but now she knows something that could satisfy her belly faster than any normal food it can only be a matter of time before it happens again.
