You asked for frank critique a while ago, and I was cautious in case what I mentioned was a stylistic choice, so too here. The thick neck looks good to me, but while I'm always a bit disappointed when mustelids don't have the characteristic long skull I recognise many artists prefer to use the same spherical skull for anthro characters that are often used for humans... While that, this otter muzzle is rather long and because of that doesn't look very broad. I'm guessing the length is a nod to the natural animal's skull length?
i agree; the skull shape is too cat-like.
the brow and nasal bones are too sharp an angle for a mustelid, it would probably be best for me to make those less steep
I need to try to avoid being one of those artists that draw all species with the same head shape.

It might be worth doing some realistic animal studies. I recently did a secret Santa, and was given a sheep that was so stylised that my mind insisted we did a real sheep version. :)

Kenket has a nice balance - I can't put my finger on how she makes natural animals look sentient - probably the eyes and tweaks to the mouth.
