This is how I like to imagine Rudolph's parents met each other for the first time.
The year was 1960. Donner, who just became a yearling, was practicing his flying. After three unsuccessful attempts, his fourth attempt saw him in the air for more than ten seconds. During his flight, he spotted a beautiful, young doe named Edith (in my headcanon, that's the name of Rudolph's mom).
Unfortunately, Donner failed to watch where he was going, thus he crashed into a tall tree and slid across the ground. Fortunately, he wasn't injured.
Edith ran to check up on Donner. "Are you okay, sir?" she asked. When Donner came to, he asked, "Have I died and gone to heaven?" "No," said Edith. "You're alive." "Are you sure?" Said Donner. "Because you sure look like an angel to me."
The two young deer became friends from that point on, eventually got married by 1962, and soon became parents of the most famous reindeer of all.
