Dierdre Black Concepts S2
Hoo Laddie, it's time for another sketch dump. This time featuring my newest OC 'Dierdre Black, the Loch Ness Monster. Or more specifically a Cryptid most commonly identified as the Loch Ness Monster. She's got some Ballad of Nessie's "Nessie" in her design inspiration, as well as noodley dragonesses such as Raya and so forth. Sort of a chocolate and peanut butter mixed together to make a perfect combination of the two...with I hope a vast degree of creative design innovation to make her stand out. I'm probably going to be doing a lot of copy+pasting for this post as well, because I've got four sheets here, but I'll try to write a little blurb on each discussing the goal of each sheet I drew up.
With this second sheet I tried to figure out her finer features, specifically her 'hoax' camo. What do I mean by 'hoax camo'? Generally I gave her body camo features that are the most frequent things folks say a Nessie sighting actually is. In terms of her 'hair', it's designed to very heavily resemble a deep maroon cluster of seaweed...or in this case 'Loch weed?'. The maroon color which isn't expressed in this sketch, along with the waves and curls are built to sort of emulate the classic 'Scottish' red head ringlets. As for her back, the horns and spin of her back are designed to emulated the look of a log and stray branches to appear as though it's an old rotted log floating down the Loch. Also got her head shape and hand designs kind of fleshed out here. Despite all these neat little features, I think my favorite thing on her is her droopy, depressive looking eyes, with the one always covered by her seaweed hair...I'm a sucker for a gal rocking the 'peek-a-boo' bang. let's move on to the next sheet shall we?
