At the age of 12, Asa was taken into slavery for his family's debts. After some time he was bought back from a slave trader by the owner of a famous grand hotel on another continent. The new master was free-spirited and promised to release him once he had worked for him for ten years.
At first Asa was a regular errand boy: helping the cooks with the dishes, washing the rooms, cleaning up after the guests from the table. But one day, during the evening cleaning in the lobby, Asa got so excited that he didn't notice how he started to dance gracefully with his dusting rag. One of the rich guests noticed this and expressed his admiration to the hotel owner. He left a big tip and strongly recommended that we pay attention to the boy's talent and send him to dance lessons on weekends in the city.
Asa is now 20 years old and quite well known in narrow circles of wealthy individuals. Influential ladies and gentlemen come from all over the country, and sometimes from outside the country, to relax at the grand hotel and see him perform live.
But everything has its disadvantages: Asa worries that after such overwhelming success, his master may renege on his promise to release him. Only two years to go.
