The Bolt Crew: Dastardly Delivery!
This is the first of many adventures that await Bolt and his friends!
Another morning, another day of work for the new heroes of the city, the Bolt Crew! Since they saved everyone from evil Dr. Calico and his troops, Bolt, Caroline, Poppy, Gerald, Shawn and Dustin became very popular, and all the citizens knew they could rely on them whenever they got in trouble. They even made a Bolt signal to call them! It was better for the thieves to think twice before robbing either a lady or a bank, because wherever there was crime, the Bolt Crew would show up!
As for Bolt and his friends, life became way better. Their owners, Penny, Elizabeth, Bob, Earl, Gordon and Annette, treated them very well and gave them the best of food. They also knew what their dogs were doing while they were at school. They had nothing to worry about, because as long as they had superpowers, they would overcome all kinds of enemies.
It seemed like it was going to be a week of peace and tranquility for the Bolt Crew and the city, until one day, some reports of houses having their front yards and mailboxes exploded appeared on the news! What new enemy could be wreaking havoc? It didn’t matter. Surely it would be no match for the Bolt Crew! So Bolt and his friends gathered outside their houses.
“Ok, guys.” Bolt said. “Looks like we’ve got a new mission.”
“I saw the news, Bolt.” Poppy said. “What kind of villain would do such a vile thing?”
“I know, right?” Gerald said. “It’s not like the mailboxes can cause the origin of a vengeful supervillain.”
“Yeah!” Shawn said. “All the mailboxes do is their job; to store mail until somebody takes it out of them. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“I don’t think it’s just that, Shawn.” Bolt said. “Perhaps, whoever that villain is, seeks to destroy something more than just mailboxes.”
“We must find out who is he and why does he do his evil deeds.” Dustin said.
“But how?” Shawn asked.
“With our sense of smell!” Bolt said.
“Great idea, Bolt!” Caroline said. “This way we’ll be able to track his explosives and find out his location!”
“I’ll go first!” Poppy said.
Then, she began sniffing the air.
“Wait! I caught something! It’s… very stinky. Does this villain also use stink bombs?”
“Oh, sorry.” Gerald said. “It’s just my breath. I chewed on Bob’s socks this morning.”
“EW! Gerald!” Poppy said, covering her nose.
“Let me try it!” Dustin said.
He began sniffing the air, too.
“Bolt, I smell something near! It comes from… over there!”
Dustin pointed at where the scent was coming from. On the distance, there was a gang of vandals playing with firecrackers near the entrance of a house!
“Oh, those hooligans!” Caroline said. “It shouldn’t be allowed to play with firecrackers around here! Somebody could get hurt!”
“Come on, guys! We gotta stop them!” Shawn said.
“Bolt Crew, let’s kick it!” Bolt said.
Bolt and his friends ran onto the vandals and tackled them down. Since they were a minor threat, they had no need of using their superpowers.
“You know what, Bolt?” Gerald said. “I don’t think they’re responsible of blowing up people’s mailboxes.”
“Yeah.” Dustin said. “Firecrackers are dangerous, but they aren’t powerful enough to destroy a whole mailbox and leave a front yard burning.”
“I think you’re right, guys.” Bolt said. “But anyway, we had to stop their mischief. As Caroline said, somebody could get hurt.”
“Besides, most of us dogs get scared with fireworks and firecrackers!” Poppy said.
Soon, the police arrived to denounce the vandals to their parents.
“Well, anyway, let’s find the real threat.” Bolt said. “Anyone else want to try?”
“I’ll do it, Bolt!” Shawn said.
He took a deep sniff.
“Fire! I smell fire!”
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go already!” Gerald said.
“Shawn, lead the way!” Bolt said.
The six dog friends hurried to where the fiery scent was coming from, and they found a burning lawn in front of a house! A pet Chihuahua was outside the house, yapping loudly and trying to call the attention of the humans. When he saw Bolt and his friends, he said:
“Bolt Crew! I’m so glad that you’re here. Could you please put out the fire? My owners are away, and nobody else seems to care that my lawn is burning!”
“Let me put out the flames, Bolt!” Caroline said.
She flapped her ears, began to take flight and prepared to throw a gust at the fire.
“Caroline, don’t!” Bolt said.
“Awww… why?”
“Your wind could ignite the fire even more.” Dustin said. “It could work on a tiny flame, but not this one.”
“You’re right, Dustin.” Bolt said. “Poppy, this is a work for you.”
“I’m on it!” Poppy said.
She put her paws together and threw a jet of water that put out the fire.
“Nice job, Poppy!” Gerald said.
“Merci, darling!”
“Thank you, Bolt Crew!” the Chihuahua said. “I wonder how the lawn started burning in the first place.”
“A villain did this!” Bolt said. “We’re still trying to figure out who he is.”
Suddenly, they heard a voice:
“Perhaps, it could be… the Pyro-Postman!”
It was an old Bloodhound. He told the Bolt Crew the story of this villain:
“From what I’ve heard, he was seriously injured by a vicious dog when he was a kid. As he grew up and recovered, he developed a strong hatred for dogs. So he decided to become one of the things dogs hate the most: a postman. However, he was a different kind of postman. He would often throw packages with firecrackers at any house with dogs in them to scare them badly. But now, he has somehow acquired explosives, so that he is able to destroy dogs!”
“What?” Gerald said. “That dude is completely out of his mind!”
“Oh, my goodness!” Poppy said. “What kind of human would do such a monstrosity?”
“Um, I think you just answered your own question, Poppy. A monster.” Shawn said.
“We have to find him and stop him before some dog gets hurt!” Dustin said.
“Thanks for the information, sir!” Bolt said.
“Call me Billy.” the Bloodhound said.
“Thanks, Mr. Billy. Ok, who wants to try now?”
“Oh! Let ME try sniffing, Bolt!” Caroline said.
She sniffed the air.
“I smell smoke, and it’s nearby. Is it another crime scene?”
“There’s only one way to find out!” Bolt said.
Bolt, Caroline, Shawn, Dustin, Poppy and Gerald headed quickly to where the smoky scent was coming from.
“Bye, Bolt Crew! Thank you!” the Chihuahua said.
“Good luck, Bolt Crew.” Billy said.
When Bolt and his friends arrived to the place of the smoky scent, they found… a grill with some burger patties roasting! Their mouths were watering! But it wasn’t time for lunch. Their job wasn’t done yet! Suddenly, Bolt sniffed the air.
“I smell gunpowder! Over there!” Bolt said.
When Bolt’s friends turned to look where he was pointing at, they saw the Pyro-Postman placing an explosive package inside a mailbox! As the postman ran away, the six dog friends ran up to where the mailbox was. Dustin stretched his body, reached the mailbox, opened it and took out the box.
“We must get rid of that thing immediately!” Poppy said.
“Guys, I have an idea.” Dustin said. “Bolt, pull my head. Shawn, pull my hind legs.”
Bolt and Shawn did so, stretching Dustin’s body like a rubber band.
“Quick, Gerald. Place that box on my body, pull it backwards and let go!”
“Oh, I get it!” Gerald said. “Let’s do it!”
Gerald grabbed the box and placed it on Dustin’s body, pulling it backwards as if he were a giant slingshot.
“Fire away!” Gerald cried, letting go of Dustin’s body.
The box was launched off Dustin and into the air, then…
BOOM!
It exploded like a firework!
“Wow!” Caroline said.
“Well thought, Dustin.” Bolt said.
“Guys, it’s not time to celebrate yet. The Pyro-Postman’s driving away!”
“Quick! After him!” Bolt cried. “As man’s best friend…”
“Our city we’ll defend!” his friends completed their catchphrase.
The Bolt Crew ran after the Pyro-Postman’s van. A wild chase around the neighborhood began.
“Don’t worry about carrying us this time, Bolt!” Gerald said. “We’ve improved our skills!”
Gerald ignited himself and took flight. Caroline flapped her ears and took flight, too. Poppy created a giant bubble around herself and started floating. Dustin stretched his body and curled himself like a donut, then started rolling. Shawn ran as fast as a normal Old English Sheepdog, but thanks to his iron endurance, he didn’t get tired for quite a while.
“All right!” Bolt said.
Using their superpowers, the six superdogs chased the Pyro-Postman. When he saw them coming in his van’s mirror, he said:
“What? Dogs with superpowers? Doesn’t matter. I’ll stop you in your tracks for good!”
With the push of a button, the van’s doors opened, releasing lots of explosive packages!
“Look out!” Bolt said.
He used his laser vision to destroy the incoming explosive boxes. Caroline created a tornado which caught some boxes and hurled them away. Gerald threw fireballs at the boxes and destroyed them. Dustin changed the shape of his elastic body to evade the boxes. Poppy trapped some boxes inside unbreakable bubbles so that they exploded inside without harming anyone. Shawn threw them back to the van by hitting them with his paws. Shaken by the explosions, the Pyro-Postman groaned and said:
“Think you’re pretty tough, eh? Let’s see if you can handle this!”
He threw time explosive discs at some parked cars, fire hydrants and house doors.
“Oh, no!” Bolt said. “Poppy, Caroline, come with me! Gerald, Dustin, Shawn, don’t lose the Pyro-Postman!”
“You got it, Bolt!” Shawn said.
“Let’s get him, boys!” Gerald said.
“We’re going to put an end to his delivery devastation!” Dustin said.
“Let’s go, Bolt!” Caroline said.
“We’re right behind you!” Poppy said.
Bolt used his super speed to find the bombs, Poppy trapped them inside unbreakable bubbles and Caroline used a tornado to hurl the bombs away. Meanwhile, Gerald, Dustin and Shawn chased the Pyro-Postman.
“How are we gonna stop him, Dustin?” Shawn asked.
Dustin spotted two parallel street lights ahead.
“I know!” he said. “Gerald, take me to where the street lights are! But be careful not to burn me!”
“All right! Hang on!” Gerald said.
Gerald grabbed Dustin and quickly flew ahead of the Pyro-Postman’s van. Stretching himself, Dustin held onto one street light with his hind legs, and onto the other street light with his front paws.
“Shawn! Stay behind the van!” Dustin called.
“What? Well, ok.” Shawn said.
The Pyro-Postman’s van ran into Dustin’s elastic barricade and was launched backwards!
SPROING!
“Now, Shawn! Stop the van!” Dustin called.
Shawn stopped running, and raised his paws, ready to catch the van.
BANG!
With his iron weight and strength, he stopped it!
FWOOM!
The van’s airbag suddenly inflated, trapping the evil postman! Bolt, Caroline and Poppy arrived to the scene.
“Guys, you caught him!” Bolt said. “Great job!”
“And don’t’ worry about the bombs.” Caroline said. “We got rid of all of them!”
Using his super strength, Bolt ripped the van’s door off with his teeth, hopped in the van and slowly approached the Pyro-Postman while growling. Scared, the villain opened the other door and tried to flee. However, the police showed up, and arrested him. The cops confiscated his van and all of the explosive packages within.
“Thank you, Bolt Crew!” the officer said. “Once again, we are in your debt.”
Bolt nodded his head, then left with his friends. When they returned to their homes, their owners greeted them lovingly. Then, some neighbors showed up, and rewarded the dogs with burgers! Licking their lips, they started enjoying their meal.
“Oh, yeah!” Gerald said. “I love my job!”
His friends laughed.
“Once again, the day has been saved, thanks to the Bolt Crew!” Shawn said.
“Now every dog in the neighborhood can rest easy.” Dustin said.
“As well as humans!” Poppy said. “No more damaged houses for them!”
“I wonder what mission will be waiting for us next time.” Caroline said.
“I don’t know, Caroline.” Bolt said. “But I do know that, whatever it is, the Bolt Crew will be ready.”
Meanwhile, the Pyro-Postman was being taken to prison. However, one thing Bolt and his friends didn’t notice was that he had hidden a small bomb in his pocket. Perhaps, they hadn’t seen the last of the Pyro-Postman…
