+ What if all this was the Princess plan to reveal Marid location? She knew that sometimes former human attempts to rescue mermaid, then they have to escape to the water genie location because there are no more retreat path. So, she has to put a tracking charm on Jamal, Mermaid or even map?
+ They have to ask about nature of Jamal curse. For what I read, all genies are able to transform anybody into anything (and they like to do it). There should be someting which prevents Alastor from using his magic. Of course, the story could explain it.
