Many believe that the times have changed, that the world has moved forward into a more civilised and enlightened era. Many believe that foolish ideology and intolerance are a thing of the past, and that in this modern age, anyone - regardless of species, creed or gender - can live as equals and in peace. Sadly, Lilac knows better.
Born of cross-species parents, Lilac is half cat and half goat, a fact that should have had no baring on her life... in that make-believe civilised era. In truth, Lilac's hybrid status has haunted her all her life. Though the open hatred for 'half-breeds' was quashed a hundred years ago, the ignorant belief that hybrids are inferior, filthy mutations still persist in certain countries, and hidden pockets of society. And tragically, those antiquated beliefs still had a strong foothold in Lilac's local areas.
In school, she was singled out and bullied, with even a few of the older teachers treating her as if she was somehow second-class. Of course, this was openly regarded as unacceptable, and efforts were made to put a stop to it, but from incident to incident, it felt as if the sincerity of those responses varied greatly. As she got older, Lilac began to understand more and more that simply being a hybrid made her 'less' in the eyes of some, and the fact broke her heart. She was sweet and kind, she was bubbly and warm, with a smile for everyone, and yet she was hated. She had friends, she had people who cared about her, and yet some would spit at her without even knowing her name. It was unfair! It was cruel! It was stupid! How could the world be so split? How could so many welcome her with open arms, while so many others would turn her away just because of what she was?
Maybe the times had changed. Maybe the world had moved forward. But not enough... not nearly enough! And rather than be beaten down by the cruel schism of society, or allow it to make her bitter, Lilac was determined to change it. She was talented and energetic, charismatic and overflowing with positivity, not to mention cute as a button; it didn't take long for the young hybrid girl to find her footing as an idol. With a stage at her feet and an audience before her, this 'half-breed' refused to let the world break her and instead worked hard to spread a message of love, tolerance and peace. One by one, heart by heart, Lilac was determined to make the world a better place, and finally exorcise that lingering ghost of an intolerant age.
However, when the Battle Beast tournament was announced, the idol was struck with a plan. Her dream of a better, kinder world could be within reach. With a world-wide broadcast and millions upon millions tuning in to watch, Lilac would have the largest audience she'd ever had to spread her message, but beyond that... what if she could win? What if she could have a wish granted? If such a thing was possible, could she wish for a world free of intolerance and hatred? She was fit, she was agile, she had stamina in spades! She was no fighter, but perhaps she could learn. Or perhaps she could use the gifts she already had - she'd heard of fighting styles that were based on dance. Could she really do it? Feeling bolder and brighter than ever before, Lilac decided then and there, she was going to put on the show of a lifetime. It was time the world changed for the better.
"Alright, let's turn up the tempo! Cue the music, this is going to be my best performance yet!"
