Made in Flixel.
INSTRUCTIONS: Z to fire, A and X to change weapons (the shield weapon does not fire). Destroy enemies to gain XP. When the XP meter is full, Gyro will level up. Leveling up improves your weapons in sequence.
This game is a tech demo showing off what will eventually be our first Flash game, Gyrobreed, which will be hosted on Newgrounds (though we'll stick a demo here to entice you!). There are still a couple of bugs in here, and we haven't even started on level integration yet (the final game won't just be an endless sequence of enemies, there will be levels and bosses and so forth). But it's still kinda fun to float around and zap things.
Thought I should mention, the music is written by
apollomerriwether of (former) FA fame.

Well maybe the Size of the map gets bigger and bigger the Higher levels you go up..
Like currently the map seems very small, not much maneuvering needed..
And it's pretty easy to just simply kill off everything before it gets by you..
But ofc, that's easily fixed with harder enemies and bosses and such~
Lots of balancing that's for sure~
Leveling system is a pretty nice feat, I can probably imagine there'll be items that drop off from certain enemies that gives you better gear~
Also I got a bug so that when I switch weapons to that Shield thing (Red Glowy balls surrounding the ship) I couldn't switch to other weapons! :O
Nice to get a look at the Demo! :3
I'm excited to see it on Newgrounds! (Been a member of Newgrounds for a VERY long time :3 )

Did you try pressing A to switch back? The weapon switching doesn't cycle so you can't switch "left" from the bullets nor "right" from the Shields. I'll take a look at it though.
If there's one thing I am it's detail oriented, so trust me there will be lots and lots of playtesting both by me and by you lot. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you! Don't forget to pick up a pre-order of our other project, the Collegiates games! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1932822/
Flixel (flixel.org) is a game development API for Actionscript 3. It has a sort of sister-project, Flashpunk, which strives to do the same thing. They each have their strengths, and to be honest, Gyrobreed is only using Flixel because I tried it first and it worked for the project. I have noticed that Flixel chokes a little with more high-res stuff, so when I get around to doing any flash-based platformers, I'll probably give Flashpunk a looksie.
