"Made of woven fullerene fibers and backed with a semi-smart gel impact layer, the SI SIF-0 (Special Issue, System Interface Layer) suit is designed for a wearer to interface with Lyceenian tech on a deeper lever than a standard neural network allows. Initially meant for long-term use in virtual reality systems, the suit was eventually adapted for operating heavy infantry armor combined with direct interface cybernetics, usually found as implants in the back of a user's head connecting to the brain and spinal cord. While piloting armor, users generally report complete loss of feeling in their usual bodies, instead relying on optics and sensors for sensory input while being safely kept behind several inches of armor plating. Despite the advantages offered by faster reaction times and fine limb control, extended periods of use usually results in side effects; drooling, uncharacteristic behavior, and in some cases, near-complete loss of mental stability have all been reported."
