This is King Triton and Ursula (from Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid) falling in love as she transforms him into a young handsome polyp and her king. From the power of their love, everyone on Earth (human and merfolk) have been turned into happy peace-living polyps, with Triton and Ursula as their king and queen while Ariel and Eric (also from Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid) are their heirs to the throne.
Going back and speaking to Triton was not something that went as bad as Ursula had expected, the elder of the mermaid kingdom had been somewhat shocked to see the sea witch return with her daughter, so that more than likely helped to stem the tide of anger which was probably due the elder man.
“What is the meaning of this?!” the bearded merman had asked as he watched the two little polyps float forward towards him upon where he sat on his throne.
“Now, now, don’t get angry.” Ursula had said in a calm, yet authoritative manner. Thankfully the older merman had been in the right enough frame of mind to be able to listen to what she had to say. “I’ve come here to return my dear Ariel to you, and to apologize for so much wrong for which I have done to you and those within the kingdom.”
“And what is that supposed to mean exactly?” the sense of frustration and suspicion upon his face hurt Ursula, but that was to be expected, given the decades long “feud” for which the two of them had been silently participating in.
“As I said,” Ursula repeated while moving away from the shivering Ariel so that she could swim up to the king. She was halted by the armored spear wielding soldiers that floated next to him. The sea witch immediately stopped in her place, as, while she knew that she could easily dispatched the pair if she wanted, she didn’t want to make a scene right now. Especially given that the daughters of the king were on her, along with his crab attendant, and several other prominent members of the inner circle of the sea kingdom. “I’ve come here to return my dear Ariel, and to right my previous actions.” The guards near Triton floated in place, unwilling to move so much as an inch away from their king.
That Triton didn’t wave them away only made things all the more frustrating, not to mention unnecessarily tense.
Ursula slightly sighed inside.
She would choose the one day of them all for when Triton would have just about everyone important in the kingdom in his court. Of course, with his youngest daughter having gone missing not that long ago it made sense on a political level. With that thought in mind the sea witch found herself thinking up several different things, of which she could say to make sure that this situation did not escalate out of her control. The last thing she wanted was for the scene in question to spiral into chaos. Her new daughter was counting on her to do her best, after all.
“Everyone who is not the sea witch, leave us.” the entire room turned to look at the king, some as though he were mad, some as though they thought he had misspoke, and others...willing to do as he commanded without question. The guards next to him were of the middle group of merfolk, as they blinked in confusion at the lord of the seas. “Do not make me repeat myself.”
Those simple words got fins moving.
Ariel looked between her father and her new mother figure and to the guards that were moving next to her. The armored mermen didn’t say much to her, but having known of her father’s wrath they quickly tried to shepherd the polyp out of the room. Thankfully she went with them once she looked to Ursula, who in turn nodded to her. Once that was done she swam away with the other as quickly as her little body would take her. When everyone was out of the room both Triton and Ursula were left in silence with one another.
“It’s been quite a while since we’ve been alone together.” the sea witch chuckled, though there was a sense of nervousness within her voice, despite her previously calm and imposing demeanor.
“What are you playing at, Ursula?” Triton asked in confusion as he looked down to the benevolent queen of the polyps.
“I…” She thought for a moment before swallowing and then inhaling sharply. “I want to amend what has been broken between us.” the sea witch finished while looking deep within the eyes of the merman that she had been holding a flame for.
“Do you actually mean?” Triton said with bated breath, the likes of which caught Ursula off guard.
When Urusla nodded the sea king rushed over to her, his eyes wet with tears. The two hugged together for a few minutes, the love between them wafting throughout the entire throne room in waves.
“Oh my dear, dear Ursula, how I’ve long to hear those words from you.” the elder merman said while swimming in circles with the polyp queen.
“I’m so sorry that I was so stubborn for so long.” Ursula whispered as she began glowing slightly.
The two of them swam around and around and around for several minutes on end, neither noticing that all the while Triton was shrinking down, losing his imposing musculature until he became a polyp. Once he was he and Ursula said nothing, instead the pair simply gazed into each other’s eyes, the love between them was shining through so brightly that the world around them had become all a blur. Nothing more was said between the pair as they simply basked in the adoration for which the two of them had long since been repressing, both because of their pride and their unwillingness to admit that they both had been wrong to not try and see each other’s point of view. Now that this was no longer an issue they planned to make a great amount of strides to change who they had once been and who they would need to be in the future, as they now had so much more to share with each other than ever before.
This was a good thing indeed, as because of their love, and Ursula’s magic, everyone on the planet and within the seven seas, had been turned into happy peace-living polyps. The confusion which would soon fall upon the earth would demand that Triton and Ursula, the new king and queen of the polyp, would need to come together to help the world move forward to a brighter future.
This would include Ariel and Eric, as heirs to their respective thrones, they would help new polyps to happily adapt to their new lives as polyps.
