How does one design a custom scent?

Buy essential oils of various types, mix a couple drops of each together and add ethyl alcohol (vodka or everclear), wait for them to emulsify/dissolve properly, then dilute to desired strength. :D

In this case, it's gonna be a strong scent of banana oil, the main smell and flavor involved in JuicyFruit gum :3 With a little bergamot orange to keep it from evaporating quite as quickly.

I wouldn't use anything oil base on a fursuit. It should be water based only.

This is water based. "essential oils" are the actual scents themselves - they evaporate and make nifty smells!

eau is French for water. :3

And perfumes are called 'Eau de toilette.' Don't think about that for too long...

Oh I won't, I know toilette is a french reference to the dressing table. Eau de toilette is morning perfume for when you're getting dressed. :3
