You don't dodge whatever the shadow is, its unseen claws catching on your arm. You try to continue to flee, to get back to the beams of light in time, but it's too late, some sort of goo emerging from your arm and spreading down your side. No matter how much you try to will it to stop, it doesn't, the slime spreading more and more.
Something grows from your side, and something else rips through your shorts almost violently. Claws rip painlessly out of your goop covered arm, your hand melting into some sort of bony paw. Your ears lengthen, one before the other, and something grows from your face, covering it. You try to pull the mask-like growth off, but it doesn't come off, and you feel it lengthen your nose and mouth into a maw.
Y our shorts are completely destroyed by more growths, almost skeletal armor sprouting from the goo replacing your body. You feel your legs shift into something animalistic, paws replacing feet as you stumble.
