Purple clusters of flowers peek up through the glossy green leaves, thirsty for the last beams of the autumn sun. The path meandered through the outskirts of the estate, through secretive coves and silent grottos, knee-high ferns and sun-dappled roses. More than once you've seen marble statues, all but abandoned, streaked in moss and hidden beneath a willow tree or brick archway... so when one of the statues seemed to move, you jump. But it's just another guest, a fox with gilded countenance, possibly as lost as you are... but enjoying every moment of it.
He strolls past the wisteria bushes, giving you a polite nod, before disappearing down a slope into a maze made of brick and tree roots. Should you follow? Or carve your own path? You stand, undecided, as the sun slowly slips away behind the mountains.
