The Champlain Lookout! I bicycled up there every second day last year in the Fall, right up until the end of November. An amazing view, especially at sunset... if you can stand the freezing winds.

So, the Cheviot Hills are like the Gatineau Hills? Sounds good... I could never live in a place without hills. In fact, I hope to stay here in gorgeous Québec for the rest of my life.

In late November, every time I went up to the Lookout, I wore two pairs of socks, sweat pants, water-proof biking pants, a T-shirt, a heavy shirt, a sweat shirt, a water-proof biking jacket, biking gloves, winter gloves and cow-hide mitts... and I still froze!

Absolutely beautiful.

I've bicycled up to this Lookout four times in the past week, and even though the lakes and ponds up there are finally free of ice, and most of the snow is gone, the winds are still freezing cold... but the ravens love it: they hang in the air like kites, wobble gently to maintain their poise, then dip to one side or the other and fall until they regain their "balance" again. I often suspect that they do this for the sheer pleasure of flying.
