More from Wotan
exegi monvmentvm ære perennivs
regalique sitv pyramidvm altivs,
quod non imber edax, non Aqvilo inpotens
possit dirvere…
("...I have built a monument more lasting than bronze,
higher than the Pyramids’ regal structures,
that no consuming rain, nor wild north wind
can destroy…")
(Horace, Odes III: XXX, lines 1-4, 23 BCE)
This is yet another experimental fragmentary piece, which functions as somewhat of a loose, spiritual successor to a more straightforward piece I wrote back in 2013, with the title: MULLIGAN
There are also a few musical influences, starting with Okkervil River's second EP: Stars Too Small To Use (1999)
Also, my use of the phrase "Common Man" is meant only in the broadest-possible, and most generic of descriptive/poetic terminology, and should not be taken as any sort of statement about gender. I have used it simply because it is such a well-known and instantly-evocative phrase in western culture. Likewise, it hearkens back to Aaron Copland's 1942 musical composition: Fanfare for the Common Man.
There is also a bit of vague, musical influence from the song "Long Long Way" off of Australian Indy-Folk band Boy & Bear's 2019 album: Suck on Light.
