After all the trouble he had caused during the communal day, it was decided that Patches had to be put out definitely.
Olive didn't want Patches to die, so instead he was put in an inoffensive state, in which he couldn't hurt anyone.
He was shrunk to bug-size and given to somebody who could effectively control him without any risk: his ex boyfriend Angel.
After all what he had put him through, Angel decided to take some revenge and put Patches at good use: a pawtoy for his paws.
