In life, Yoroi was a skilled samurai who served as the bodyguard of a respected general. At some point, he singlehandedly defeated a hoard of men sent after the general, but it cost him his life. He was considered to have died a hero and many mourned his death. But his soul wasn't ready to depart yet. Before he could be cremated, his body disappeared--his soul had gone back into it and he casually got up and walked off, leaving a note saying not to worry about him and that he's off to see more of the world before passing on. He's since spent 370 years adventuring around Japan, doing good deeds, training himself further, trying to come closer to achieving enlightenment, and observing the many changes for better or worse that the country has gone through. During this time, he also formed a fierce rivalry with a wicked oni known as Ganshin, and the two have fought each other to a draw many times. He thinks he just might be nearly ready to let himself depart and see his old friends in the afterlife, but first there's a few more challenges he feels the urge to tackle.
