I got reminded of that one boss fight from that one Dragon Quest game only released in Japan (Slime Morimori?), whose name people seem to often translate as "dragon" for some reason even though it's definitely not written that way. Games accidentally appealing to interests like these amuse me.
Not my usual kind of inflation or anything, but I got stuck in a situation where I couldn't do much but doodle while this happened to be in my head. I originally just drew the character alone, but then it occurred to me to add a background, maybe try to play up the low angle a bit… was pretty limited in what I could do since I had already drawn the dragon (would've drawn them at a lower angle if a background was planned from the start), but I managed to make it work a bit, and I kind of like the lighting I went for.
Somehow, this took only about an hour. It's characters that take me forever to draw in most cases, which turns out to be a lot easier when the character's basically just a big ball. The background went by real quickly and easily.
I did make some brief attempts to colour this, but they turned out quite poorly. Guess it's not a good idea to try to shade first and then colour things.
In general, I'm not that much for using existing characters in my art, but since this sketch kind of accidentally be happened and I'd be remiss not to share what I've made, here it is.
