I love writing dialogue, I also like to improvise (which is probably not the best for this comic) but I like to keep it natural while still pushing towards the end point/different scenarios, but in a organic way, and I think you do organic and natural well actually =)
a silent comic would be a nice practice on expressions and such, I just did one for a school project =3

in the first panel it does look like nikki is making a sort of typical boy expression despite his feminine looks, and with a character like nikki I always wonder how his voice sounds, if maybe it's equally feminine or perhaps when people hear him speak they are in for a surprise X3

The voice I imagine him having is actually pretty masculine, so as soon as he opened his mouth people would probably clue in. Otherwise the fact that he is completely flat with not even a hint of breasts at all might help. XP

Great work as usual Demi. Your characters are lively, realistic, warm, exuberant, full of personality, unique, and quite lovable, it's your comics I always enjoy the most for a reason. The colors are excellent, Anatomy is realistic, thin, lithe, love it. Facial expressions are half the fun, they're mischievous, welcoming, and friendly, really an excellent job on them. Love their winter clothing, the style, you do a great job making the clothe seem soft and malleable, as it should be. Great job with this so far, can't wait to see where this is going.

Honestly, I agree that a filter would be a good idea, but I don't see why commenters take it out on the ARTIST. I have always been an artist who draws characters of any orientation, so it shouldn't be a shock. The first issue of the comic is straight so this one is gay. I need variety or I get bored drawing.

It's short for Nicholas. I've known guys named Nikki - it's easily a unisex name, I guess people are just more used to it being for girls?

The one other place I've seen it on a guy, it was for Nicolai. But yeah, I think most people see it and automatically think "Nicole" or otherwise that it's a girl's name.

I don't think your dialog is that bad. It's tricky stuff to write, goodness knows and I fight with it a lot. But I think you do a pretty good job with it. It moves the story along, and it adds to your character's personalities. It's not Shakespeare maybe, but I don't think that's what you'd want for a little holiday comic like this anyway. What you've got is sweet and warm-hearted, and this page has a nice feel of family and friendship. So I think you're doing a great job.

It draws the eyes attention to the background "foreground" giving you a good feel of the atmosphere they are in.
