You know, this would probably be infinitely more solvable if they just... told these forest critters what's going on. Keeping the secret made sense in the city, but I feel like just saying "We'd be happy to help you, but we literally can't right now because we've switched bodies" would cute out, like, a lot of hassle for everyone.

But from a logical standpoint you're absolutely right. Aval has at least demigod status and might have been able to lend a hoof. Why wouldn't he? There's still a genuine quetz there, she's just in the wrong body. A little help and a little time, and Saida might teach Raybrand how to make it rain. They don't have to tell Aval they got switched because they bogarted Queen ***** of the Universe's magic amulet. Just tell 'em it was a magic accident (also why their pal was transfigured into a puppet) and they're on a Great Quest to find a cure.

I guess there was the fact that Brand didn’t trust Aval both due to his personality and the circumstances- Aval is currently in a pinch and wants rain, *and* thought the puppets, an old enemy of theirs, was attacking. Plus judging by his reaction he was still quite dubious of them. I imagine Brand figured if they came off as weak and helpless that Aval wouldn’t believe their story and just think they’re out to do harm, so he told a lie that would make them seem more reputable and buy them time in the short term… that and Brand’s pride probably means he doesn’t want to come across as helpless or incompetent due to it being embarrassing. His homework is definitely humility, heh

Idk why but was hearing rain sound and see this comic page before sleep but dream with she trying to make rain but goes awfuly wrong and swelled with water on the sky till exploded XD no worries when fell to the ground she was already there saying rhat was shameful XD
