Von found himself awakening in confusion. He wasn't quite sure where he was or what was happening, but he was aware that something felt very different. He opened his eyes, but to his surprise, he saw only darkness.

As his mind reasserted itself, he remembered what he'd just been doing a few seconds ago. That was when the diablos had volunteered to step into the magic circle. He remembered a birght flash knocking him off his feet.

Was he blind? Had he lost his sight somehow? The shock of that idea made him shiver. That sounded horrible. What was worse, he felt himself unable to move; as if compressed into a small space that-

"You can come out now," said a voice from beyond the darkness.

Come out...? Come out from what? He wasn't hiding anywhere, he was just.

...

With a blush and a little smile, the new armadillo uncurled himself, his leathery armored back slipping behind him as he slowly stood up on his tiny new hind feet.

His horns were intact, as was his tail stud, but the rest of this tiny frame would take some time to get used to! Well, at least he had someplace safe to go into whenever he needed time to think!
