Bio:
Marcus Kholyawsky was born to a Belarusian-Jewish family, who had a history of accusations of witchcraft behind them.
At the age of 17, the tall and gangly Marcus was in High School and had become the favourite target of a local gang. One day, the gang attacked him with baseball bats. As the first blow landed, Marcus closed his eyes as he was subjected to a savage beating - in that moment, the raven feared for his life and closed his eyes. He opened them to find himself at home. His family were cowering behind the sofa, stunned by a brilliant flash of white light. What was more, where he had expected to feel the agony of broken bones, instead he felt only light bruising. Once his parents had been convinced that an Atom Bomb hadn't dropped, Marcus's elderly grandfather reminded them of the family legend. His own grandmother had many times been accused of being a witch.
Quickly, Marcus began to use his powers both for the good of others, and for his own ends. In his free time he would fight crime as the costumed hero Pryvid, taking the Belrusian word for ghost as his name. In his spare time, he would visit the school library after hours and even, once or twice, sneak an advance look at exam questions so as to be better prepared.
In 2001, Marcus was now a young Professor of Physics when he was presented with the opportunity to join law enforcement. Leaping at the chance for further advancement and the thrill of adventure, Marcus signed up and swiftly rose up through the ranks, making both friends and enemies along the way. During that time, he met with a Scottish otter by the name of Moire Gunn. It was out of their brief but passionate affair that Duncan was born. Now faced with the responsibilities of a father after having been unaware of his son's existence for eighteen years, Marcus has sobered up and is determined to prove himself worthy of the challenge.
Personality:
Though motivated basically by a desire for justice, Marcus is encumbered by a deep sense of self-loathing and bitterness. He drinks heavily in order to treat depression, struggles with perennial loneliness, and dislikes loud company. He is at his happiest when alone with one or two friends. The single bright spot in his lfie is family - even after eighteen years his love for Morie is undimmed, and that love reflects itself in his attitude towards his son.
