After the events of Teen titans 2003 episode 29 Betrothed, Blackfire was banished from her home planet Tamaran and sent to the planet Earth to an asylum in the city where Starfire and her friends live to undergo a rehabilitation program in hopes of curing her of her crimes and granting her redemption, believing that there is still good in Blackfire.

The Tamaranian was forced to wear an inhibitor necklace to deprive her of her powers and prevent her from using them to escape as well as harm patients, nurses, doctors and other medical staff. She had to undergo psychological therapy and medical examinations, having her heart rate checked without her objecting by being tied/gagged in order for her rehabilitation to be effective.

Unfortunately for Blackfire, she also has to be securely bound/gagged to spend the night in her psychiatric room to ensure that she doesn't cause a disturbance at night. If all goes well and she follows her therapy regimen to the letter, with occasional visits from her little sister Starfire to comfort her and keep her hopes of becoming the 6th member of the Teen titans alive upon her recovery, Blackfire may be granted an early release.
