A Gentle Meeting:
It was a quite evening, the winds a calming speed while Lupus walked through a forest. Right off the outskirts of a city, it was a place for him to get away from the loud and busy streets. Life could always get quite hectic, so a calming walk in the lush forest always cleared his mind. While walking around, he found a pond, nothing too big but large enough that it would take a decent swim to get to the other side.
“Might as well take a short rest here” he said, finding a soft grassy patch to rest his paws.
He sat there, listening to the silence the forest brought, much different than the busy noise he would here near constantly in the city. Everything seemed to slow down out here. All of a sudden, he felt something, a soft shake of the ground like a miniature short earthquake. Once it was done, Lupus thought nothing of it rather than a rare occurrence, but it happened again, a bit rougher this time. It began to repeat, each rumble growing in size.
“What’s going on?” Lupus said to himself, now noticing that the water in the pod was rippling. Something big was approaching, so he jumped from his spot and found a large tree to hold and hide from whatever was creating this earth-shaking event.
Then, from a break in the trees, he saw something, a leg. A fuzzy, huge leg in the middle of its step. It made impact with the ground and shook the very ground, almost lifting Lupus off the ground. He looked up and saw what was the largest being he had ever seen.
It was a raccoon, mostly he could tell this by the mask covering his eyes and the pattern lining his tail. He had to be at least 100ft tall, judging by how tall he was compared to the trees surrounding his legs. The giant took a couple more steps until he was in front of the pond, trying his hardest to take a seat, crushing a few trees in the movement. Lupus watched as he sat there, he seemed the raccoon seemed to be doing the same as he was, resting and getting away from the busy life, though he could only imagine what “busy life” meant for this giant.
While thinking, Lupus didn’t notice that the massive raccoon was staring right at him.
“Hello there little one”, his voice was deep but not deafening, almost had a soft texture to it.
“Hello there” he said, starting to come out from behind the tree. “Was just getting some fresh air”.
Reese stared at the small wolf, he eyes soft, not showing an inch of hostility. All of a sudden, the raccoons hand reached down. Lupus flinches as the hand wraps around him and soon feels the ground lift his feet. He was multiple feet in the air in the span of a few seconds, now staring eye to eye with the giant racc.
“Seems we think a bit alike, eh?” Reese puts the wolf on his shoulder, giving him a good view of the pond and the trees surrounding it.
The two talked for what seemed like hours. For Lupus, it was quite the event he didn’t see himself having. Chatting it up with a giant raccoon was not something you do every day. Once the sun started to go down, Reese stood up slowly, not wanting the wolf to fall down.
“It’s about time I get home, you mind if I take you to where you need to go?” Reese asked, using his index finger to rub the head of the small wolf.
“Sure thing, I live a few miles out east”. The wolf hummed a bit when Reese rubbed his head a bit.
Reese started to move, his mighty legs brushing through the trees, some breaking from the sheer force of the moving forward. Some getting crushed underneath his paws. In no time at all, what took Lupus a few hours only took the giant a couple minutes to reach the edge of the woods.
“It was a fun time getting to chat with you Lupus” Reese said, wrapping his hand around him and gently putting him down on the ground. Lupus had to crane his neck up all the way to truly understand how tall Reese was.
“It really was fun, will I be able to see you again some time?” Lupus asked, watching the raccoon start to make his way back into the forest.
“Sure thing, though next time how about you show me around town?” Reese gave him a wink, crossing into the forest to get to where ever the giant called home.
Lupus started to get back to his place, he couldn’t stop smiling, knowing he would be able to see the giant again real soon.
