The latest episodes of Failed Tanks are up on my DA Gallery!
Chapter 10 is a special episode, which covers 10 *successful* tanks with some serious flaws;

...and Chapter 11 concerns the Europanzer --- a tank that was built by 3 nations, and rejected by ALL OF THEM;

The slide about chapter 10 still isn't fixed. You still miss a few slides about the Sheridan, and some if the IS-2 are shown too shortly. :<
And HUH?! Europanzer? Never heard of it. But LOL, the French and their expertise for proper tank design and drivetrains, as usual

As it happens, the Panther is one of the tanks I have planned for a future episode of Failed Tanks. However, it'll be a LONG time before I get it --- the Panther has Chapter #42 reserved for it!
For now, here are a few of my gripes with the Panther;
- It was mass-produced and sent into battle before it was fully developed.
- It had excessive complexity, in an era where successful tank design was directly correlated with simplicity.
- It was too heavy; more than 10 tons heavier than it's US, British, Soviet, and Japanese counterparts.
- Germany's tank design "leadership" felt that the problem with the Panther's weight was a LACK of it --- and it "evolved" accordingly.
- It broke down. In combat. A LOT.
- It's engine sucked.
