Here is my first attempt at digital art! The picture I took of my drawing I opened with paint and started going to work, first tracing lines and then filling things in! And then, I added in some text and diaper decorations and, voila! Little Sarah (formerly Simon and human) looking all pretty for picture time!

That's what I use as well. I recomend going over everything real carefully with the line tools in the shapes section and then filling things in with the bucket tool using about a 40% tolerance. That way you get results more like this: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49243284/
It's a great way to get rid of those rougher looking lines.

I use all of the line and curve options at some point in the drawing as each line type works best in different situations. It takes a heck of a long time but it's hard to argue with the results. If you turn down the line thickness and use lines of similar colors to your character, they can even help with shading: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45434953/
It take some practice but gets great results. Good luck with your future drawings!

I've only dabbled in digital art myself, so I'm certainly no expert. But here's a tip I learned using Sketchbook:
When coloring a species with black fur, use a dark grey as the base color, use a slightly lighter grey as the highlight, use a VERY dark grey as a shade, and save black for the outlines. It gives it a "cell-shaded" look.
I've never done any fully digital pieces. Just experimented with coloring a few of my sketches. I mainly stick to colored pencils.
