A commission for
and
Here's another commission I recently finished, one that I personally am very happy with. I find it funny that I received two "snuggling by a fire" commissions right around the same time, but it sure is a romantic subject so I don't mind. Britishredfox was a pleasure to work with as well, and I love how this turned out! I'm a huge fan of this new coloring style of mine, it's not only easy and intuitive but pieces turn out a lot better with it imo.
Enjoy! :)

This is a lovely piece. It's really smooth, and the colors blend real nice. Two things I wanna point out if y'don't mind, of course.
The overall picture has a yellowish tone to it. Maybe a bit too much. It's like I'm looking at the picture through yellow glasses. I'm assuming that's supposed to be the light from the fire?
Also, the fire itself looks..static. I'm not really sure how to make it look more like fire, but it just almost looks like a cardboard cutout of a fire..which would be hilarious, actually.
Anyway, it's an awesome piece. :)

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! Firstly, I started out with a blank yellow background color and took all of my other colors from that, hoping to set a warm, fireplace-y mood for the whole piece. So that is why its so yellow! (Maybe too yellow) O.O Secondly, the fire is very static, I agree! But whenever I applied detail to it the fox faces were totally lost, so less ended up being more, you know?
And lol, cardboard cut-out of a fire... so awesome. Totally a Rikkoshaye thing to do I think. *imagines walking into my house and having a cardboard cutout of a fire in the fireplace* hahaha!

A real simple way (though this may be totally wrong, I'm just spouting from my head) to make the fire seem more fire-y is like..put little flames..I dunno, like chunks of flame coming off the top..something to make it seem crackling, maybe? No idea. Hard to explain.
I think there is slightly too much yellow overall in the piece, but I definitely see what you're trying to do, and I think you convey it just fine. Your overall coloring style on this is fantastic.
