Concept of Beauty - BelayaLapa
A concept of beauty commission done for me by
BelayaLapa
They had an interesting little story and explanation to go with it!
"Tsiliya felt a glad knocking in her chest, sitting in the moonlight amongst the roses; she wondered if this was truly what she wanted. The night air felt soothing against her scratched up skin, and her tail flicked back and forth against the stone bench. Warmth was emitting from the bottle in her hand, gently she raised it in the moonlight and it began to levitate.
"Oh no..." she spoke softly, eyes welling with tears. The only individual that had treated her well looked at her with indignation when she acquired this new sample, until now Tsiliya only sought to feed and cherish her beast. He depended on her, he grew stronger because of her, but also at the expense of others...
Is this the right thing to do? She thought. She could always find better means to acquire sustenance for him, but for months she enjoyed lying, cheating and stealing to give him exotic enough blood to subsist on. It quickened his recovery rate. Even if it would have been amusing to watch Dahlia being eaten alive by him- the only person at this academy she respected and trusted saw through her and scowled at her.
"Why the hell should I care, these awful people have been tormenting me just because of my hair and tail color!" Tsiliya grimaced, blinking away her hot tears and holding the warm bottle in both hands, leaning forward on the bench. She knew it wasn't just her hair and tail color...in the initial meeting between herself and anyone else- she almost enjoyed being the outcast. The troublemaker. She let the prejudice of others become her identity and Gabriella saw through it so quickly, and felt disappointed in her. Someone who actually expected something of me was let down, Tsiliya thought, and it hurt.
The roses behind her in bloom, regardless of the weather, were always comforting and beautiful. Even if they grew from the body of a monster.
She clenched the bottle and decided; this stops. This behavior stops. She stood and wiped the tears from her face, the season was almost over at the academy and she could have any life she chose if she just changed for the tail end of this semester.
I don't have to embody or justify the deluded constructs they think of me, Tsiliya resolved, and walked away from the rose covered pillars. Determined to destroy the shell of what she was, and bring forth the person she could be."
"So this is an unconventional take on "Beauty" as a concept. I think recognizing ones faults or flawed behavior, internalizing and deconstructing it so that what ever the root for that behavior is- is singled out and dealt with, is important and essential for growth. As we are not islands, we sometimes need others we trust to tell us when our behavior is harmful (even if only to ourselves), and growing from those behaviors into a better version of oneself, to me, is a beautiful thing. Of course, this drawing was also to appreciate a pretty crying lady, which is a choice aesthetic for me, lol! Thank you to Aimlesswaves for commissioning me with a very interesting concept, and I hope Tsiliya made a good addition to your collection!"
Thank you again, Belaya!
