A sunset at low tide, in Laguna San Ignacio, Baja California. This is a 30"x40" oil painting I did based on a photograph I took in Mexico in 2007.
Oil on canvas, 30"x40"
This is a photo of the painting, as its too large (and still slightly wet) for me to scan and piece together.

See! This is why I love working in oils too... Nicely done, Kacey.
I've just bought two large canvas' of a similar size... I'm eager to begin working on a large canvas again.
BTW... would projecting an image onto a large canvas be a good idea to help sketch out the scene? Usually I do so in pencil, and freehanded, but it's never as good as it could be prior to painting.

Thank you =D.
The place we were at was in the middle of nowhere - it was really awesome - there was basically just a dirt airstrip we landed on, and took this renovated school bus out to this camp with a bunch of cabins which were wind-powered, and the toilet system was such that it used the seawater to flush... and our showers were solar heated bags of water... This was taken the first night we were there, the tide in the bay was out and we walked around tidepooling, looking at all the little creatures - the sun was setting and it was just gorgeous how it reflected off the shallow water, and so I took a few pictures... I was hoping one day I might paint one or more of them =)
Chiefly the trip out there was a whale-watching trip - during the day we took six-seater boats out into the lagoon where the grey whales mate and raise their babies in the springtime - and the whales come right up to the boats, and you can just reach right out and touch them... The experience was unreal.
