My first reference sheet (shaded version), created by KyoriArt on Twitter. I had no idea what Mud should look like, and Kyori did an amazing job creating an original design. Almost every aspect of Mud's color scheme and pattern tells a story, especially the claw marks on his sides. The wolf claws at the human and vice versa.
My goal was to balance out Mud's 'wolf form with human traits. For instance, though he's drawn standing on the balls of his feet, his legs are more plantigrade than digitigrade. This allows him to be stealthy and nimble on his toes but also switch to his heels for running and sprinting.
Please check out Kyori's artwork! This realistic style isn't her typical fare, but she took on a new challenge with grace. We both love how this turned out, and I'd definitely work with her again. Thanks Kyori!
