Finally... I can actually fill one of these out and better yet, I can see a slight improvement >:O Even though I also see some things that are better in earlier things, w/e.
For those of ya interested.
Jan- Newish to computers still. Still preferred pen/pencil and paper A LOT, but had no scanner(hey, I had no scanner since 2009!) I was fudging around and earning to make shadows on... something. Hell if I know that program.
Feb- PAINTCHAT! Months and months of nothing but, in fact. This was done there.
Mar- Discovered gradient overlays. Abused the hell out of them.
Apr- Beginning of a HUGE art block in which I found myself deconstructing my art into nearly lineless paintings like the example for this month.
May- Still deconstructing further, this month is populated by speedpaintings of Pokemon with sketches for outlines.
Jun- Working on returning to a set style, but which one to go with? How will I make my 'niche'? Overlays helped these look nice, but WTF are those textures?
Jul-Still working on finding a 'style', tried various things. This was an attempt at making cell-shading look not-retarded. It was bright and had a very graphic quality, which was nice but felt unnatural to me.
Aug- Coincidentally, the month of my Bday and the month that I found my direction. This messy messy mess was just what I was looking for.
Sept- Unfortunately it didn't stick wholeheartedly(though I continue to this day to experiment with it), but the 'coloring over sketches' is retained. Also I make an attempt to learn backgrounds and DON'T fail miserably.
Oct- More painting. I'm learning how to display light and shadow effectively after many months of OpenCanvas <3
Nov-I think I know what I'm doing. I'm at a good place with my art, though I crave improved anatomical skills. Faces no longer are a primary focus.
Dec- WTF am I doing uuuuugh... I'm trying a lot of crazy lighting and revisiting old ideas because now I can more properly illustrate them.
