Arcten is able to flare up his draconic elements, in this case allowing his inner fire to run amok. The heat can get quite intense, melting or even vaporizing objects around him. The light coming off him can make it extremely unpleasant to look directly at him. Being more than natural fire, he can sustain this under water or even in a vacuum.

This can be done with elements other than fire. Elements can even be flared simultaneously, provided the individual is skilled and powerful enough. A user, as his skill increases, can learn to further manipulate the energies coming off of them. For example, the heat coming off of a flared fire can be made to radiate downwards, or in all directions evenly, rather than mostly in an upward direction. Or, the heat could be contained tight to the body, leaving the surrounding environs untouched. Or, in an advanced case, the heat can be instructed to not touch certain objects or people, rendering the form safe to use indoors and with other people close by.
