The sun warms his cold scales as he gazes out at the expanse before him
From beyond the parameter of the compound the vibrant green trees reach towards a blue sky above
Feelings unlike anything he has felt before wash over him
Tears would have spring from his eyes if he was capable of it

But movement caught his eye
Down the ramp he seen them
Humans
A dozen or so
Many with faces concealed by masks and balaclavas
They were different from the white coats that he had seen all his life
The one by the door was holding the dislodged keypad, its wiring free, staring in stunned awe
All of them were
But the silence was broken by a scream
Terror at the monster that crawled from the dark
This sparked something inside of him
The awesomeness of nature faded and was replaced by the rage that had longed for release
He had seen the evils of humanity
None were to be trusted
He had played the scenario so many times in his mind
Him standing over the broken bodies of his captors, the warmth of human blood on his tongue
And now...
He had something tangible to unleash all that resentment on
They will have to do

His vision went red
The screaming swelled to a climax
But each bite
Each slash
One by one they were silenced
And now with no obstacles to impede him it was time to learn where he belonged in this world
Vanishing into the trees as the whirling of helicopters descended on the compound which was now a battleground filled with gunfire and smoke
