I need to find the book, I read it from (This was in the early 90's) but, it was a book that was banned by a local Christian sect (Further incentivizing me to read it, love me that forbidden knowledge)
Very in depth info about the deities. What I read, was Sekhmet was Bastet's dangerous side. She was the reason, once a month woman bled, and why females were allowed in the Pharaoh's military
It was said that once a month. All the anger and hatred that Bastet, her followers and her children saw and suffered would come forward bringing forth pain of the injustice and a rage to go with it
Hathor was similar to the Goddess Freya of being a multi tier God, Also considered one of the primal gods. (Ie the You exist because, I'm sated) type
Goddess of wrath (She's rage incarnate) Goddess of Beer, which was used to stop her wrath. Goddess of the sky, it's a long list

The versions I've read told how Bastet would switch to Sekhmet when angry (or needed), whether it was against other gods, invaders, or the egyptian people. No one was safe from her wrath that could come in many forms: fire, disease, polluted water, burning sandstorms...
I thought her interactions with Bastet must've been rocky xD Opposite yet similar by several aspects
