Another awesome thermal feature in Yellowstone, Opalescent Pool is an inactive pool (no spouting, no bubbling, just hot water) that on clear, sunny days like this shows some awesome colors. Just so awesome and peaceful. Where the name comes from, I have no idea...

ya, all those hot springs look so tempting until you find out that the water is well over 100°F. idk about this pool, but many of them can be just a few degrees below boiling. also they stink of sulfur and some have traces of arsenic and other bad to breath things in it.
but yes, it does have some beautiful colors to it :)

This is awesome. I love how all the trees are dead - foreboding. This also looks a bit prehistoric. There are some streams and ponds up in my woods that have oil or other pollutants in them. The woods used to be a stripmine. You stick your foot in some of them and you pull up stinking black stuff.
