Introducing my new adoptable species, Sphinxies!

Sphinxies are pixies that resemble the mythical Sphinx of legend, possessing feline traits, lion-like behaviours, and being naturally drawn to books, magic, and knowledge. Like cats, they have certain kinds of ears, eyes, claws, and footpaws, like sphinxes they have (usually) feathery wings, but what really sets them apart are their tails! Sphinxie tails resemble decorative bookmarks, often adorned with charms, intricate designs, embroidery-like markings, and more. One thing all Sphinxie tails have in common is that they ALL have a key at the end.

Every Sphinxie is bonded to a specific book, the book's title being their name, and the contents of the book affecting their appearance, personality, behaviours, habits, clothing, and abilities. For a Sphinxie with a book about animals, they will be naturally adept at communicating with, and taming, animals and creatures. For a sphinxie with a book about medical knowledge, they will be adept at healing and tending wounds.

Every book is secured with a lock, to which the only key is the key worn on the Sphinxie's tail. When a Sphinxie claims a book for their own, this key and lock form out of spontaneous magic. No sphinxie can unlock another Sphinxie's book - unless they trust this Sphinxie implicitly and give them permission to do so.

Sphinxie's books are their homes, and when open, you can see the home within, the different rooms appearing as you turn the pages. A shut book means a Sphinxie is not at home, or is busy, and a shut book with the Sphinxie's tail hanging out like a bookmark means the Sphinxie within is fast asleep.
