Tofu's having me practice shiko (sumo stomps) to help me build leg strength and develop better balance to help with mobility. Sumo wrestlers practice this hundreds of times a day, but at my size and weight twenty for each leg seems to be more than sufficient for the purposes of keeping me on my feet just a bit longer.
Tofu actually had a short stint in amateur Onna-zumo competitions long before the 1926 ban. Not really much to note about it, she mainly did it for fun.
Traditionally, shiko is both a surprisingly low-impact yet potent leg exercise for both strength and balance, and a ritual believed to ward off evil spirits.
