Due his kind nature he incline help also it seem Brand more of complex back ground as seems know more about Quezt society as he expected this kind behavior (I believe more so do his opinion on the Queen who rules over the Quezts due his lack of knowledge on how Quezt society works) from them to not care about creatures it effect especially judging from his expression over last few pages.
