Very eloquently put. Pray, what was the impetus for this piece? Most of what is said looks to be pointed in a singular direction. the emotion behind the words is so intense that they emanate from his very pores, and yet so viscous that they do not rise into the ether but cling to his being, reticent to fade or dissipate.
The impetus was a handful of feelings I've had towards certain people and situations, both recently and in the past. I didn't want to put a face on any of those things, though, so a headshot seemed most appropriate - and then, a doe just isn't as threatening as a buck, so I changed my sex for this piece.
Thank you kindly!

I have a pretty large screen (roughly 8x13 inches), but I also resize my pieces so when viewed at full, you don't have to scroll the page down. For me, this is just small enough to not have to scroll.
On the other hand, I'm not all that concerned about being able to read the words, as I hope the art communicates the feeling regardless.

It has nothing to do with a host's screen resolution. Assuming the pixel density (DPI- Dots per inch- another form of resolution) is constant- most scanners are around 72 dpi to 300- it would be a simple matter of giving an acceptable resolution for multiple screen sizes. A screen resolution that fits most web based applications in regards to compatible sizes, upload speed, and amount of space allocated by the file, is around 640x480. Any larger, there would be compatibility issues viewing for other people trying to see the picture (it would be too big).
Taking this into consideration, a simple image editing program can scale images to restricted resolutions. You see this on the info pane of the piece here on FA (471x596). This is an acceptable size to be viewed on other devices that are smaller than yours, which allows other users who have more restricted resolutions to enjoy the piece.
Any larger, a netbook would have issues viewing the file due to its size. In your case it might appear to be too small.
